Overview

Kawasaki may be gearing up to launch its first cruiser in the Indian market with the introduction of the Vulcan S.
2015 Kawasaki Vulcan S
The Vulcan S, introduced internationally last year, is powered by a liquid-cooled 649cc parallel twin derived from the Ninja 650, but with revised cam profiles, modified intake tract, exhaust and ECU.
Kawasaki Vulcan S
The good news is that it is expected to be assembled in India, putting a very attractive sticker price of around Rs 6 lakh (ex-showroom).
Vulcan S
In the international market, the Vulcan S is offered with customized ergonomics - dealer-installed seat, footpeg and handlebar options at no extra cost. That certainly makes it an attractive consideration for the average Indian and even riders of short stature, to customize the ergonomics according to individual preference. ABS is standard on the Vulcan S, but could be offered as an option here in India.

Overview

While the world media is going gaga over the new Yamaha MT-10 that was showcased prior to its official launch at the 2015 EICMA Motorcycle Show in Milan, Italy today, the motorcycle that actually holds a higher importance in the Indian context is the new Yamaha MT-03. The Yamaha MT-03 was showcased to the media in a gala event in Milan and the motorcycles were ridden on stage by Yamaha MotoGP riders Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo.Yamaha MT-03
The new Yamaha MT-03 is basically the naked version of the Yamaha YZF-R3 that was launched in India recently. The styling of the Yamaha MT-03 is exactly similar to its 250cc sibling, the Yamaha MT-25. The design language of the Yamaha MT-03 is akin to street bikes with a beefy tank, petite tail lamp, and exposed frame along with sharp and edgy lines that should please the naked bike loyalists. Apart from the design changes, Yamaha boffins have also fine tuned the riding position to better suit to the street bike riding dynamics and seat height is also low at 780mm. The Yamaha MT-03 has dumped the clip-on bars for a more conventional single piece and wide handlebar that will endow the rider with an upright and comfortable riding stance.
The Yamaha MT-03 is powered by the same parallel-twin motor as seen on the Yamaha YZF-R3, good enough for 43PS of peak power and 29.5Nm of peak torque. The powerplant has been mated to a 6-speed transmission. Braking is handled via disc brakes at both ends while ABS is standard (the Yamaha R3 sold in India doesn’t get ABS). The MT-03 employs cast aluminium wheels with a 140/70 rear tyre and 120/70 front. Expect the Yamaha MT-03 to be showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo with a possible launch by late 2016. The Yamaha MT-03 will be brought in via the CKD route to India with a sticker price of under Rs 3 lakh and compete against the likes of the Kawasaki Z250, Benelli TNT300 and the upcoming BMW G301 R.

Overview

Ducati has finally taken the wraps off the smallest offering in the Scrambler family – the Sixty2. First things first, the Scrambler Sixty2 sports a 399cc L-twin Desmodromic air-cooled engine that produces 41.5PS of peak power. Torque figures of the motorcycle are still unknown but we expect it to be around the 35Nm mark. Considering that the Sixty2 loses one cylinder, there is an obvious reduction in weight too. The 400cc Scrambler Sixty2 tips the scale at 167kg.
Ducati Scrambler Sixty2
The Scrambler Sixty2 will be the most affordable motorcycle to be offered by Ducati, so there obviously will be a reduction in equipment. Ducati has replaced the upside down forks from the larger Scrambler with telescopic ones on the Sixty2. The low displacement Scrambler is also expected to have different tyres. The entry-level Ducati will get a steel tube swing arm, a 14 litre fuel tank and a new black silencer cover.
The 400cc Scrambler Sixty2 will go on sale in three colour schemes - atomic tangerine, shining black and ocean grey. Details of when the Scrambler Sixty2 will make it to Indian shores are still sketchy but we expect it to be here in 2016. When launched, the Scrambler will possibly cost Rs 4 lakh.

ducati scrambler sixty2 rear
Aside from the entry-level Scrambler Sixty2, Ducati also introduced a new flagship member to its Scrambler family in the form of the Flat Track Pro. This top-spec Scrambler offering will feature aluminium mirrors, a sporty headlight fairing, CNC footpegs and sprocket cover, full throttle exhaust and more.
Ducati also said that they will be unveiling another version of the Scrambler which they have produced in association with an Italian fashion brand in Miami in December.

Overview

There are very few motorcycles that have drop-dead gorgeous looks and the hardware to back those looks. In a way, the 1299 Panigale, even in pictures, demands a second, third, and even a fourth look every time one lays eyes on it.
2015 Ducati 1299 Panigale
It certainly is a thing of outstanding beauty and looks alone makes the 1299 score so high on every bike lover’s wishlist to own one or at least ride one around a track, lap after lap. But the new 1299 is much more than just one sexy looking sportbike.
Ducati 1299 Panigale details
The new Superquadro engine in the Ducati 1299 Panigale is incorporated into the Monoscocca chassis, providing the perfect platform from which to deliver over 205PS of power from the 1285cc L-twin engine. The new 1299 Panigale boasts of practicality to make it ideal for the track as well as for the road. Improved road manners and new electronics and rider aids may even make it easier and more forgiving than ever before.
1299 Panigale
The total focus on light weight gives the Panigale a power-to-weight ratio that sets the reference in its class. Combined with advanced electronic controls and the finest brakes, suspension, and other components, this creates an incredibly potent package that takes riders to the very apex of performance.

Ducati has enhanced its electronics package via an Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) that measures acceleration in relation to three axes and calculates the bike’s angle of roll and pitch. Ducati Wheelie Control, Cornering ABS, and on the S model, Ducati Electronic Suspension, use the information provided by the IMU to continually adapt the bike’s performance based on the conditions.
Ducati 1299 Panigale
Suspension on the S model is composed of an Ohlins Smart EC semi-active suspension system that’s similar in design to what comes standard on the 2015 Yamaha R1M, but with Ducati-specific settings. With this system, Ohlins divides the riding into different events instead of looking every millisecond at what the chassis is doing and making continuous adjustments.
Additional electronics on the Panigale include an eight-level (plus off) Ducati Wheelie Control system borrowed from the Superleggera, a Ducati Quick Shifter with auto-blip function for upshifts and downshifts, as well as an adjustable Engine Brake Control system.
There’s no ignoring the Panigale and with those incredible looks, it certainly is one superbike which will turn many heads as well as hearts - of both those riding it and admiring it.
